Daniel's base Commander designated a four day weekend specifically for all of us Air Force-ians to discover New Mexico. Daniel and I have been excited and planning our trip for a couple of weeks now. We feel so lucky to be able to live in and discover New Mexico. What a truly beautiful state with so much to explore.
First on the trip is a stop at White Sands, followed by a visit to Carlsbad Caverns. The kids are thrilled and so excited about the prospect of sledding on sand! I am excited to see more of this great state, and Daniel is psyched about the caverns.
So far we have done a little of this...
Thank God! A two year old male without a nap is t-r-o-u-b-l-e. And I don't mean mischief, just exhaustion.
Face time with a non-sleeping baby.
It was really no bother at all. She's so lovely to look and easily delighted - it was a pleasure indeed.
We stopped at a gorgeous, no, stunning mission. Daniel and I spotted this age-old structure as we drove by and just knew we had to turn around to take a picture of it. We ended up going inside and found ourselves blown away. What a beautiful, beautiful place.
We concluded our drive with a typically gorgeous New Mexico sunset. Only this time there was the backdrop of a mountain range. We marveled for mile upon mile at the beauty.
Do you want to join me on our trip? C'mon! It's going to be fun; just so long as you don't mind the noise of three small children, the occasional dirty diaper, and having your picture taken.
Okay, fine... I understand, those are sticky points. Why don't you just follow along with the pictures instead.
Next up... Sledding in over 100 degree heat! Tell me, what could be more fun than that?!
A lot of this...

beautiful mission indeed! My mom is from california and the combo of that and her roman catholic background many a vacations have been spent oohing and ahhing over missions.
enjoy your trip discovering all that needs to be discovered. Sounds like you have a great CO.
I cannot wait. And what a beautiful church/mission. WOW! Your picture of it it breathless. It sounds like you had a great time. i love 2-4 day adventures so much. We may do one this summer we haven't decided yet though. We are going to Florida in October for Madison's fall break.
Say a prayer for Madison today....she is running a fever and we are trying to prepare her for camp on Monday. I'm calling the Dr this morning...have a good trip. I'll be back for more.
Oooh, I love your blog. I'm from Albuquerque and your blog is so much fun to read. You'll have to drop by up here some time and explore Northern NM. I married a guy(former Navy now Air Guard) from Roswell so I understand the west Texas thing. If you get a chance stop by the Alien Museum in Roswell and there is a McDonalds that is shaped like a space ship just a couple of blocks over. Its hilarious!!! On the 4th there is a huge Alien invasion there (hee hee) even Oprah came one year. There are some bottomless lakes a few minutes from there as well. Southern NM is so different from Northern NM with each their own beauty, its truly "The Land of Enchantment" Can't wait to hear more of your trip... Val
