Wow. Class last night was so good. I inhaled a ton of information! Nothing too exciting happened; perhaps the most exciting part was when a girl sitting at the table in front of me ate a pear that had a worm living in it.
You would have found me passed out on the floor if I had done that. I tried not to think about it for the rest of class but it didn't work.
If I attempted to tell you what I learned last night it would just be ugly. It was math and my brain is not geared for math. I have always felt stupid for not being mathematically inclined. But I am not going to anymore. Just because mathematical stuff doesn't come naturally to me does not make me stupid. There.
I just stamped my foot. Did you hear it?
But, the equations and fractions, the numbers and the all talk about "X" was clear last night. I totally got it all. Actually being able to implement it is a whole different subject. But I will get there. Someday I am going to be really good at this photography thing.
I really like the way my teacher transmits information; his style works well for me. I liked how he explained with words and then demonstrated visually; it was also hands on with our own cameras. So it was like a three in one on each point. I appreciated that.
If you have a digital SLR camera make the time to take a class. You will learn so much and your time there will certainly not be wasted. Nor will the money you spent on your camera.
I have a dream of one day being a brilliant photographer... Perhaps I will see you on the other side of my lens. I would like that very much.

You are so cute. Glad you had a good time and learned much. Im open ears when you are ready to share!
Thankkkkks!
Why does everybody wants to be a photographer nowadays??
Think about a more better and original idea (no offense).
Anna!
I love my 50 mm 1.4 lens too! We have some other great lenses, but that one is my favorite! What kind of camera do you use?
I can't wait to see what you've learned - IN ACTION with those darling kids!
Come on over and check out our hike :)
I have the same lens! Or rather, the husband does and I just get to use it. It is my fave. We might as well throw away our kit lens, it's useless. And I will shoot fixed any day! Keep up the brilliant work with your photos - I can't wait to see you implement the things you will be learning!
I have the same dream! For over the last year I've really wanted to buy my first DSLR, take some classes and start my own little business.
I'm still in the I have no idea what type of camera to get for my first DSLR- do I go with a starter like the Nikon D60 or Canon XTi/XSi or do I dream bigger and go for more of a Nikon D80 or higher.....
Enjoy the class! I'm going to start taking some next fall when the hubby is deployed but I'll have to venture an hour into Canada to take it!
I really know nothing about photography, but I do have to say that I think it's awesome that you are going back to school to learn more about something you enjoy so much. That makes going to class so much easier.
I have spent the last five years working in PR for the Army doing both journalism and photography, but the two award winning photos I have were "accidents" created by messing up on the "math" of photography. I was never really good at the math part either, but have learned to adapt to how I work with my camera. Good luck and I look forward to seeing what you create.
It is kind of funny about the surge of photographers with the digital age - myself being one of them - not all will make it but digital makes the learning curve so much better!
Good luck with your classes - and I love my zoom lens (Tamron 28-75 f2.8) I've read plenty of reviews that compare it to the more expensive 24-70 f2.8L Canon lens . . .
you are a brilliant photographer! you truly have a gift, and not everyone has that :) i'd be willing to bet that people would pay you already... because really, you are just that good!
Glad you had a good class!!!
i DONT KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT PICTURE TAKING..i'M THAT MOM STANDING THERE STRESSING OVER OUTFITS..NOT LIGHT..THEN WHEN THE PICTURES COME BACK..THE LIGHT IS AWFUL. I ALSO JUST REALIZED I TYPED THIS IN CAPS...SORRY. I'M A DORK. GLAD YOU HAD A GOOD CLASS...I'M EXCITED YOU ARE DOING THIS FOR YOURSELF.
Class sounds interesting, although I'm not sure how I'd do with all the math. I've never been a math person either.
You already are a fantasic photographer Andrea, but I think this class is going to make you even better and I cannot wait to see some new shots!
You have to do MATH in photography class??? Oh man, there goes my photography dreams. Oh well, easy come, easy go. Stupid math.
Any advice on how to find a good class? I don't have a camera yet, but I'm hoping to get one soon and I'd love to take a class once I do.
I'm glad this week went better than last week! Although, I think you already ARE a brilliant photographer!
I had no idea there so much Math involved in photography. Especially nothing involving "X". Wow. Now I'm even more intimidated by my camera, lol.
BTW- I think you're already a brilliant photographer Andrea! I'd love to know even a tenth of what you knew before you even started your class :)
