It's like my arm had a mind of it's own. And because of that, this may be the earliest I have ever played Christmas music before in my entire life.
It's hard to resist the call of Christmas, especially when you have three super cute kids, two of whom adore Christmas anything.
I remember a point in my life when the Christmas magic was gone. Totally gone. Christmas was nice, but magical? No. I remember thinking how I couldn't wait to have Christmas with my own children so I could feel the joy of the season again.
Well, I have 'em and the magic is back, baby! I enjoy the season like never before. I vividly remember my own childhood Christmas days and I now see every twinkling light, every snowman, every mysterious present through my children's eyes. I love creating fun traditions for my family to do year after year, and I look forward to every moment of the Christmas season because once again... It's awesome!
Pulling out the Christmas records tonight was a bit strange, what with it being so early, but I'm okay with early. I'm hoping it might help get me into the Christmas spirit. It's been a little hard to remember that the big day is just over a month away. In Vermont the ground would be snowy and Christmas would naturally be felt in the air. Today in New Mexico it was in the high 60's with leaves still on the trees. So, in an effort to combat Christmas unawareness I turned on Santa, Baby and Alvin and the Chipmunk's The Christmas Song and All I want for Christmas. My little family danced around the livingroom and sang our hearts out.... It was fun! I also had the priviledge of discovering that Judah is an outstanding dancer. In fact, so outstanding that I nearly peed my pants from laughing.
We made a special point to listen to Eve's favorite Christmas song evah... Hark The Herald Angels Sing. I think our girl would be thrilled with that song getting stuck on repeat. If record players had a repeat button, that is.
Speaking of record players... Daniel was talking about the crackle tonight. The crackle that comes with playing a record. What a fantastic sound! We are so glad our kids are able to experience the greatness of listening to records.
And, just because I need to know... Does anyone else sing the title to the song, in their head, as they type it out. Because I so do. And I need to know if I am the only crazy one...
C'mon, admit to being crazy like me! It's very freeing.

I couldn't even read it without singin'
:p
Yep...Crazy Club for me too! I still spell out the word success when I'm writing it as the cheer I did when I was a little league football cheerleader. Crazy but true!
Sing the title? No, I sing the whole song then forget what I was typing which is how my posts end up so scattered. Lovely, I know.
I'm right there with you, I could have written this post myself. I was just telling Justin how exciting birthdays and Christmas is for me now, especially with Noah at such a fun age. We've been listening to Christmas music for over a week now, Andrew Petersons' christmas CD, it is my favorite ever, Behold the Lamb - so good!
Sure do! I never realized that!
I've been resisting the urge to put Christmas music up on my blog the last couple weeks. This coming week I will.
I love reliving the Christmas fun through our kids also. : )
I broke out the Christmas early this year too. Jonathan has not jumped on the bandwagon and refuses to listen, but I'll wear him down eventually! :)
And I pretty much sing everything all the time, so of course I sing the title as I type!
I used to hate Christmas coming before Thanksgiving, but now that I'm a mom, I LOVE it. Not only does it help me get ready (all the reminders are rather helpful with my failing memory), but the magic is such a wonderful thing. Why not have it be a bit longer for the kiddos?
I'm holding out until after Thanksgiving, or rather, after kevin comes home. It just doesn't feel like the Christmas season without him.
But SOON he will be home for good, so very, very soon!!
My hub doesn't like Christmas anything until after Thanksgiving, but as soon as it hits November I'm ready!! I love the music, the lights, the cheesy ABC FAMILY specials...all of it!
Last night I made Mexican Hot Chocolate (and not from a mix!)and we watched some special.
Love it!
O we have been listening to christmas music for the past few days. I love christmas and the decorations and the music.
I would love to know what traditions you have created for your kids at Christmas. I'm trying to do the same thing but I'm not good at coming up with things that seem to feel natural.
O thats funny that you said that mine is from germany too!
I'm not usually one to go overboard on the holiday music but this year I can't live without it! And my kids want it 24/7 too! Sigh. I love the feeling that accompanies this time of year.
No worries- I've had Christmas music running through my head and streaming through iTunes since mid-October. I'm not even sick of it yet! Truly is the most wonderful time of the year! ~Savannah
Early shmerly! This time last year, the Christmas season had commenced! Seriously, Thanksgiving is late this year.
And yes, I "sing" the titles of Christmas songs all the time!
I havent listened to a record player in years...I did however make a Christmas CD last year....it is great.
we decorated for christmas on monday- i needed enough time to really relax and enjoy it, and the kids really love to help, so they were enthusiastic of course, and i love that we're all settled in for christmas!
