I decided a few days ago that I was going on an exercise streak. I shamelessly stole the idea from this lady; I really needed to do something to keep myself motivated. Okay, so I would only have to look in the mirror to be really motivated, but I'm avoiding that shiny object hanging in nearly every room of our house.
My adopted motto when I lost the weight from being pregnant with Judah was "Eat less, move more". It still rings true even if I don't really like it. I found it so easy last time to lose the weight, once I decided I was going to, that is. It was April which meant semi-warm weather making the walking with the kids thing super easy. I just put them in the stroller with plenty of snacks and off we went. Not so easy this time. I've been walking at the gym or outside and last night started doing Crossfit with Daniel.
I am extremely determined, I refuse to be in the position I found myself in after I had Judah. I don't know if it was a thyroid problem or just me, but this time is different. I am exercising and most certianly eating differently and with much more discretion - well, except for my animal cookies downfall. I really love them. I'm trying to convince myself that a grapefruit would be just as satisfying. It hasn't worked yet.
I know a lot of you are trying to lose weight as well, so tell me - what are you doing for exercise and how much weight do you intend to lose. (highly personal, I know!!)
I'll start... I've already told you my exercise choices: pilates, walking, or Crossfit. And my weight to lose: 17 pounds. (much better than the 50 pounds I lost last time!)
C'mon, don't be shy. I need some accountability partners or those animal crackers may get the best of me!

I am trying to lose 30lbs. I don't have the time or money to go to a gym so I work out at home. I have just fallen in love with The Firm DVDs. I too am trying to eat smaller portions and make good food choices, but....ok I admit I am really bad when it comes to food. Good luck to you!!
Ohh, that is one of the hardest things for me. I would love, love, love to lose 20lbs. I usually work out at home as well. My hubby is a weightlifter and a health freak so he tries to keep me eating healthy.
Good luck, girly! I think for a mother of 3 kids you look awesome already!
I dont want or need to lose anything..I know throw the animal crackers at me. But....I need to work out....big time..sit ups and walking are things I need to do more of...I walk 10 miles a week....but that is only 2 days a week. No other exercise. I need to get up and do sit ups after Madison goes to school in the morning...I need I need I need....the summer will be here before I know it and I'll be at the pool...wishing I had worked out. Good luck gal.
I work out at Curves 3 times a week, 30 minutes each. I started this a year ago and lost 12 inches (all over) and 15 pounds. Then I put it all back on and decided Curves was very beneficial. I just started again two weeks ago. I also, albeit quite sporadically, head to the clubhouse here in our townhouse community and hit the elliptical, treadmill or stationary bike. I'm 5'7" and have a larger bone structure so my ideal weight for MY body is MUCH different than the ideal weight I've read about. So, drum roll please...I need to lose 30 to 35 pounds. And I am bound and determined to do it!
I'm cheering you on for your 17 pounds! Before we know it you'll be posting that you've lost it! GO ANDREA!!!
I need to lose at least 15 pounds. Right now I'm just trying to eat better, I would love to take up jogging again. But with three kiddos alone, that's not going to happen!
So, exercise will be the DVD's!!
Due to some health problems my DR. makes me go on a 6 week cleanse diet every year it consist of only fruits and veggies and nothing else, you can steam them, cook them, eat them raw, how ever you like, but I talked some of the other nurses I work with into trying it with me the first week is hard but most people loose about 15-20 pounds in 6 weeks on it. Just an idea, but good luck on your 17 as long as you want it you can do it
I desperately need to lose about 45 pounds...alot, I know...but I'm so struggling with motivation. I was doing kickboxing while Q was in Iraq, but now? Well...I have a treadmill that's calling my name. Someone hold me accountable!!!!
Well...a year and a half ago I lost 20lbs, and I felt awesome...never better. I lost the weight by removing artificial sweetners and, prepackaged foods from my diet, and replacing those with all unrefined food products--- All of which I know you have done yourself. I've put most of the weight back on, which I am disappointed about and am now embarking on the weightloss journey once again. I have the same approach this time, as I did incorporate "the bad foods" back into my diet, but this time I am also drinking a lot of teas...mostly green teas, and instead of drinking juices I make iced tea from my flavoured teas. As for exercise, I swim, walk and jog, and I've decided that I'm going to do a little weight-lifting just to tone up a bit.
We've all heard it before... weightloss is about input and output.
Good Luck Andrea, and know that I'm right along with you.
i haven't been around blogland lately. Your babies are getting big, specifically the new one.
I've been trying to limit my caloric intake, as much as i can while nursing, and I'm doing arerobics 3 days a week. so far i lost 3.6 pounds in one week. yeah me. but then last week i gained back 1 pound.
I've lost all the baby weight, but I have around 10 more to go to be back to my ideal weight, I was up when I got pregnant due to recently PCSing and the holidays.
I can't wait for this place to thaw so that I can hit the road again, I usually really love to run. For now, I try to use our tredmill, lift weights on occasion, and I have just discovered that I really enjoy a dvd called Cardio Pilates. A good mix for me.
Now that eating thing... the "500 extra calories" I need for nursing is going to my head. I need to work on that! Thanks for reminding me to buckle down and just do it!
I know I need extra food with nursing - but I don't count calories. Counting cals makes me more hungry (I have no idea why!). I have 14lbs before my prepregnancy weight. But I hit that after Oceana and never managed to tone up. So I'm walking right now (I've had a hard time recovering south-of-the-border). Hopefully I can start running next week or the week after that. I need some aerobics or pilates. I was in the best shape of my life when I was doing pilates. But I was also 17 then too...
My method is completely unorthodox and probably not for everyone. I, for personal reason and my past history, do not diet. It easily turns legalistic for me so I refuse to do it. What worked best for me after Noah, though it took me nearly a year to figure it out!!!, is this: I walk in the mornings before my kids get up, depending on how my nights with Abigail go. RIght now this is very touch and go but as our nights get better it will become more consistent. I listen to praise music and I walk for the Lord, not for me. I submit my day to Him and beg for Him to take authority in all areas, including my eating. I ask the Holy Spirit to show me when I am full so I don't over-eat and to lead me in making wise decisions about food. Then I let it go. I make all effort not to focus on it the rest of the day and I do not weigh myself. It is all about feeling good and if I feel good, who the heck cares what the scale says? That has been big for me, letting go of that. But I tell you, this has been one of the biggest blessings for me, learning to trust God enough in this area. It is hard but so rewarding.
Like I said, unorthodox but it works for me.
I have 5 lbs of baby weight left, and I'ld like to lose 5 more beyond that just for good measure. For me, swimming is without a doubt the easiest way for me to lose weight. It also tones up everything without any extra time in the gym. I haven't started swimming yet since Chloe. Mainly cause I'm so tired, but maybe next week...
In the meantime, I walk over 15 miles a week because I don't drive here. So whether I like it or not, I've got to keep moving!
ha! i just added it up in my head and i have gained and lost 50 lbs three times in five years...can the human body take that much change?? apparently... i have had big babies every pregnancy (10 lb-ers) and they thought i may have gestational diabetes that they couldn't catch with tests, so with #4 i ate a diabetic diet from the fourth month on. i didn't gain any weight with him until 15 lbs at the end, and after he was born i lost 35 lbs...meaning i'd lost 20 while pregnant and didn't know it. needless to say, i just stuck to the plan. it isn't actually a diet at all, i eat all the time- it's just intentionality. and did it work to keep him from getting big? nope. 9 lbs. at 36 weeks. apparently we just give our kids great genes...
Hi..your Mom told Poppie no eating after 7 pm..tough but it worked..he lost 15#!
We still do popcorn & apples after 7...love you-keep at it, you'll be SO glad you did!
Ideally I'd like to lose 20-30 lbs. I had kind of a reality check last week because the doctor I went to on post asked me how I felt about my weight, I had to admit that it was an issue with me. Anyway...so far I've been eating smaller portions. I don't deprive myself of everything I love, but I don't eat as much of it as I used to. I also try to work out an hour a day whether that be a combo of cardio or weights too. Since last week I've lost about 2.5 lbs. So I'm pretty excited about that.
You can do it Andrea! Animal crackers and all. :)
Well, working on this too. I am trying so hard to keep my eating under control, that is my hardest thing. I have been trying to stay busy in the afternoons/early evening when I get the munchies so I don't go overboard and I've found that the green smoothies help when I am craving sugar.
My goal is to lose about 30lbs to be real happy! Now, 50 lbs would be the "I am so smokin hot, my husband can't stand NOT to touch me" version of myself! But, right now - I will settle for 10! I am bouncing around 200 and I can't even tell you the last time I saw the 180's. So - my immediate goal is to be 189 by my birthday (4/30) That's a little less than 1lb a week - lets hope I can do that! LOL!!!
The workout site you posted is awesome! Thats the kind of workout I love! I think it's from being in the military, but I love to sweat and I love the pain! However, that site looks rough! Have you modified it any way? I want to jump in, but I am too badly out of shape right now.
Let me know! I can be your cyber crossfit buddy :)
thanks so much for buying earrings!!! i will send them out first thing tomorrow!! i hope you like them!!
i have been watching calories and portion sizes since the beginning of the year. i have lost about 5 lbs. i exercise on my recumbent bike at least 3 times a week for 30 mins... but sometimes if i am busy, i only go for 20! other times, i'll go for 45! in my line of work (shipping and receiving), i do a lot of lifting... which helps keep my arms toned--so i don't really do a weight lifting program. i would like to lose 20 lbs, but if i can fit into my old clothes comfortably and not feel all BLAH, i'm ok with that (its hard to gauge fat and muscle). i have a post on my blog from a few day ago about a co-worker and i who are having a friendly competition for the next 6 months! wish me luck!
I have 3 lbs left to lose before I'm back to my prepregnancy weight, but I need to tone up quite a bit. My work out before I got pregnant was going to the gym and biking, mostly biking. I would go 15 miles twice a day (stationary bike). I'm planning on doing this again when I'm able to. I also LOVE Tae Bo! It's very motivating and definitely works!
